Mark Collie is a man of many talents – recording artist, record producer, songwriter, actor, filmmaker, racecar driver and philanthropist. Born and raised in Waynesboro, Tennessee just off the Hardin County line, Collie developed his passion for writing songs and performing. His fervor eventually led him to Nashville where his blues-based rockabilly sound exploded onto the national country music scene in 1991. “I've come a long way from where I started” he says with a laugh, “but there's a long stretch of road ahead.”

Collie found success with his fresh and unique style of music. His four MCA albums Hardin County Line, Born and Raised in Black and White, Mark Collie, and Unleashed spawned hit after hit including "Even The Man In The Moon Is Crying" and "Born To Love You".

He later united with longtime friend and renowned record producer James Stroud to record and co-produce his Giant Records debut, Tennessee Plates. In total, Mark earned ten top 20 singles, five top 10 singles and two top 5 singles.

In addition to penning the majority of songs on his albums, Mark's tunes have been recorded by many of country's top hitmakers, including Garth Brooks , Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Randy Travis, Collin Raye, Billy Ray Cyrus and Alabama . Playboy Magazine praised George Jones' single, "Ain't Love A Lot Like That" written by Collie, stating it “is the most effective up-tempo honky-tonk Jones has done since the late Sixties.”

In 1998 Collie embarked on a film and television journey that took him in a distinct creative direction. He made his acting debut opposite Steven Seagal as town bully Hatch in the action-drama Fire Down Below. He has also appeared in television favorites Walker Texas Ranger, Early Edition and a special CBS two hour Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. Collie proudly received his first stuntman credit on the set of Twilight, a Paul Newman film starring Gene Hackman and Susan Sarandon.

In 1999, Collie portrayed American icon Johnny Cash in the critically acclaimed independent film I Still Miss Someone that he co-wrote and produced.The 17-minute short film won the coveted Tennessee Spirit Award-Best Short Film and the Tennessee Arts Commission Purchase Award. “Never before in our 30 year history has a film won more awards, created such a buzz and required so many additional screenings,” says Nashville Independent Film Festival Director Michael Catalano. I Still Miss Someone has also garnered over five major independent film honors including Best Picture, Live Action Short at the First Annual Yahoo! Internet Life Film Festival and First Runner Up, Best Picture in the Short Film category at the SXSW Film Festival 2000. It also enjoyed a screening at the first-ever Woodstock Film Festival in Rome, NY during Woodstock '99. “To be a part of Woodstock and be included with such an outstanding lineup of films is a great honor and I'm very flattered,” relates Collie. “As a singer and songwriter I always dreamed of being at Woodstock . This is not how I envisioned it, but at least I'm going!”

Mark's role in the major motion picture The Punisher garnered him critical acclaim and a fan following for his song "In Time". He continues to contribute a song with each performance he undertakes in film.

Diagnosed with diabetes as a teen, Collie is a tireless advocate for diabetes research. His annual charity fundraiser and network television special, Mark Collie Celebrity Race for Diabetes Cure links his love of music and cars to his dedication to finding a cure for the disease. His efforts have raised over two million dollars for the Vanderbilt Research Hospital in Nashville , TN. “The race provided a vehicle that would allow me to invite my friends to do something they don't normally get to do,” recounts Collie. “It provided an opportunity to raise the level of awareness very quickly among Country Music listeners and racing fans and make them aware that diabetes is one of the leading causes of death in the world.”
