I was in labor for twenty years before giving birth to my little music company. The copulation of my love of music, combined with my megalomania affliction impregnatated me with a little tax write-off I like to call "Shut Eye".

The nativity of my destiny took place in 1996 at my dining room table. The gestation was long, but the labor was swift and slight. The culmination of my destiny had arrived. There was relatively no clean up as I had given birth to many other concepts. Unfortunately, many of my previous ones were stillborn. But this one was special, so I wrapped my little Shut Eye in swaddling clothes and laid it in a manger for there was no room at the inn.

I had no money with which to create Shut Eye's first effort, so I took odd jobs to help pay for start-up. I had every kind of job imaginable. From selling ads for local music magazines to wooing the Lost or Curious to the intoxicating elixir of the Church of Scientology.

I took hail damage claims at an insurance company and sold timeshares to the blue-collar set. I waited tables and fought off lusty gay men and lonely old ladies at the local Red Lobster... and when the going-got-God-awful, I picked up a job selling specialty maintenance chemicals, including a heavy duty degreaser and cleaner concentrate called ALL-PRO.

"ALL-PRO solves practically all cleaning jobs. ALL-PRO is formulated for the toughest grease, dirt, carbon deposits, grime, soot, inks, oil, blood, resins and other dirty conditions. ALL-PRO is the one product for all-purpose, general-purpose and special-purpose cleaning. Apply ALL-PRO with low pressure sprayers, high pressure equipment, steam cleaners, immersion systems or by hand. ALL-PRO may be used by factories, trucking companies, schools, office buildings, industrial plants, highway departments, farm and road equipment maintenance operations, institutions, municipalities, printing plants, oil refineries, chicken houses, speakeasys and nursing homes."

One day I realized that no one's gonna get rich off of selling ALL-PRO, so I scrapped that gig and started Shut Eye full-time. I maxed out my credit cards, but after releasing Brand New Buzz!, Shut Eye became flesh.

Shut Eye's earliest artists include Atlanta greats: Fiend Without A Face, 17 Years, Young Antiques, Atomsplit, 6X, X-Impossibles, Wonderlust, Nillah, Sara's Greatest Fan, etc... then, Shut Eye started releasing music from artists all over the US. Then, Shut Eye released music by artists in Canada. Then, Shut Eye released music from artists all over the world. Shut Eye has since released and promoted almost 300 albums by artists from every continent on Earth, except for Antarctica.

The Shut Eye locomotive now has the intellectual horsepower, the iron steam and unmatched ingenuity to take on the most formidable of challenges for our artists. We flex our analytical muscles at the problems of industry and quickly turn them to mush or profit... whichever best suits the artists we represent.

Shut Eye, now exists as a record label, a radio promotion agency, a publicity firm, a publishing administrator, a CD & DVD manufacturing plant -- a think tank for the thinking musician.

Shut Eye has worked with and released music by more than 800 artists from around the world including the Fiery Furnaces, Ambulance LTD, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Matt Pond PA, Kaki King, Mary Lou Lord, Bobby Bare, BR549, Jay Farrar, Rich Robinson and hundreds more worth mentioning. These artists along with an unmatched staff are the reasons for Shut Eye's success.

This is what I call "FUNCTIONAL HEDONISM". Webb Wilder suggests you pay attention to this concept,"Work hard, rock hard, sleep hard, eat hard, grow big, wear glasses if you need 'em."

I absolutely love my Shut Eye life. I am constantly surrounded by great music and fantastic people. I wake up smiling and look forward to work every morning.

Thanks for taking time to learn more about Shut Eye. Be sure to drop me a line and say hello. - Evil Pete
